Muse triggers and auto-proxy

Once you have a muse, posting as them is either a short trigger on each message, or auto-proxy in a channel or thread so you can write without the prefix. This guide matches how MultiMuse works on Discord today.

Set a trigger when you create the muse

In a channel where MultiMuse is allowed, open the Apps menu on the message bar, choose MultiMuse, and run muse add. In Basics, enter the character name and the trigger — the text that tells the bot the next part of the message should post as that muse. Enter the trigger in the field as directed (before the colon pattern, not after). Finish Media & Style and Notes & Privacy, then save the muse.

Post with a trigger

Type your trigger, then the IC text. MultiMuse removes the trigger and sends the rest as the muse’s name and avatar. Triggers are case-sensitive as you configured them. Extra spaces after the trigger are trimmed from what partners see.

Auto-proxy with /muse auto

For a scene thread (or channel) where you want every ordinary message to go out as one character, run /muse auto, choose the muse option, and pick that character. After that you do not need the leading trigger on each post.

To clear auto-proxy or switch characters, run /muse auto again without selecting a muse — that clears the setting for that location so you can set a different muse or go back to triggers only.

Triggers still win

Auto-proxy only applies when your message does not start with a muse trigger. Need one OOC line or another character? Use that muse’s trigger for a single post without turning auto off for the whole thread.

Aliases on top of auto-proxy

Auto-proxy picks which muse posts. An alias changes how that muse looks in a channel or thread (display name and optional avatar) while the main trigger stays the same. If auto is posting as that muse where an alias is set, partners see the alias face — not the default card name.

What is a muse trigger?

What does /muse auto do?

Do triggers still work when auto-proxy is on?

Yes. If your message starts with another muse’s trigger, that trigger wins for that post. Auto-proxy only applies when you send a normal message without a leading trigger.
