Matchfinder
Matchfinder is mutual matching inside a community. Members publish a tagged muse, others respond, and a mutual match opens a Discord thread.
Staff with Manage Server turn it on from Servers → Apps → Built-In Apps → Matchfinder.
Players open it from the community page, a shared /communities/…/apps/… link, or /matchfinder open in a text or voice channel (not a forum). Use the slash command. Discord’s channel Activities button posts a public invite.
They must be signed in. A members-only board also requires them to be in that Discord server.

Before the switch will turn on
- Invite MultiMuse if it is not installed.
- Set a server tag on Servers, or in
/server setup→ Membership. Matchfinder stays off until that tag exists. - Members add that tag with
/muse edit→ Add to this server, or with the server-tag chip in Muse Studio.
Only muses with this server’s tag can appear on the board. A muse needs a public profile to publish. An NSFW muse cannot publish on an SFW board.
Save Matchfinder writes the settings below.
Enabled, name, and who can look
Enabled turns the board on. Turn it off to hide Matchfinder without wiping the channels and buttons you set.
Display name is the title players see. Up to 120 characters. The placeholder is “Matchfinder”.
Who can browse
- Members only — people in this Discord server.
- Public browse — visitors can look. Publishing a card and matching still require membership.
Look and colors
Activity look is the skin in the Discord Activity and on the community page.
Follows community theme uses the colors from the community page. Any other look overrides those colors with its own preset.
Accent color and Base color win over both the community page and the preset when you set them. Clear a color to fall back.
Advanced styling is custom CSS. It is a Plus perk for the Discord server owner. Preset looks stay free.
Discord channels
Board channel
A text channel. Published muses post their listing cards here. The bot needs permission to post in it.
Post as a custom listing identity makes those cards use a name and avatar you set, instead of the default bot. The bot needs Manage Webhooks in the board channel. Upload the avatar in this same section. Clearing it removes the custom picture.
Matches forum
A forum, or a text channel.
- Forum: a mutual match opens as a forum post.
- Text channel: a mutual match opens as a thread in that channel.
If the forum requires a tag on new posts, map every match button to at least one forum tag. Otherwise Discord will not open the thread. Create the tags in Discord first, then reload Apps so they show up in the mapper.
Content rating
- Inherit community listing — Matchfinder uses the community page’s SFW or Mature rating.
- SFW muses only — the board stays SFW even if the community page is Mature.
- NSFW muses allowed — NSFW muses can publish here even if you want the board looser than the community page.
An NSFW muse still cannot post on an SFW community when the community itself is SFW and this is set to inherit.
Match buttons
These are the buttons on a card. Each one has an emoji and a label. The starting set is Flirt, Feed, and Friend. You can rename them, change the emoji, add more, or remove some. There is a cap on how many you can have. The editor shows the number.
When the matches channel is a tagged forum, each button needs at least one forum tag. That tag is what Discord applies to the thread for that kind of match.
A match happens when both people press the same button on each other. Flirt matches Flirt. A Flirt and a Friend do not open a thread. The thread opens in the matches forum, with that button’s forum tag when you mapped one.
Interest chips
Suggestions members can tap while they publish, such as a genre or a tone. Chips filter the deck. They are not the match itself. The match is still the button.
You can link a chip to options in the publish form so tapping the chip fills those choices. Save after you add or rename chips.
Publish fields
The questions on Show my profile and on /matchfinder publish. Turn fields on or off, and mark which ones are required. There is a limit to how many fields the publish sheet will show. The editor stops you past that limit.
Save after you change the list.
For players
- Put this server’s tag on a public muse.
- Show my profile, or
/matchfinder publish, puts that muse on the board. Edit the card any time from the same sheet. - Open Matchfinder and use the match buttons on other cards, as one of your tagged muses.
- A mutual like opens a Discord thread and a short celebration.
- Matches lists your threads, likes that are waiting on you (like back from that list), and chat inside the overlay.
/matchfinder matchesis the same list from Discord./matchfinder unpublishtakes a muse off the board. - At the end of a deck, skipped cards can be shown again.
You can report a card. If the deck is empty, the usual cause is a missing server tag or a muse that is not public.
If a match has no thread
In Apps → Matchfinder, Rerun missing threads saves the current setup, then retries matches that never got a Discord thread.
You need a matches forum or channel set. If it still fails, check that each match button has a forum tag when the forum requires one, and that the bot can post in that channel.
Extra boards
One Matchfinder is free. Extra branded boards need Plus on the Discord server owner. Add them from Apps → Add app. Each one needs the server tag, and its own channels and buttons.
